Smile Design
If you are not satisfied with your smile, you can preview the results of dental procedures on your teeth using computer-assisted imaging. Photos taken before any procedure are transferred to a digital environment and processed using cosmetic imaging programs, allowing you to get an idea of how your smile will look after the treatment.
Every individual is unique in terms of appearance and character. Therefore, especially the restoration of the front teeth should be designed according to the person’s specific needs and characteristic features.
Comprehensive knowledge of the shapes and anatomical features of teeth, which are the most important elements of a beautiful smile, forms the foundation for all treatments. Teeth are aligned in harmony with each other and with the surrounding soft tissues. To achieve the best aesthetic results in dentistry, all structures—from the inner to the outer—must be in harmony: the angles and inclinations of each tooth, the gingival margins surrounding the teeth, the lips, and ultimately the face.
The goal of smile design is to determine what needs to be done to create a beautiful smile.
Evaluation Process:
Oral Hygiene and Gum Health: The patient’s oral hygiene and gum condition are assessed. If bacterial deposits or cavities exist, a treatment plan is created to address them.
Gum Visibility: The amount of gum visible when smiling is evaluated. Necessary procedures to ensure gum symmetry are determined. Pink aesthetics, or gum aesthetics, form the foundation of overall dental aesthetics. If the gums are not visible while smiling, maintaining healthy gums may be sufficient.
Tooth Position and Alignment: The orientation, angles, and relationship between teeth are assessed.
Spacing Between Teeth: Any gaps between teeth are examined.
Tooth-Gum Relationship: The zenith points (the highest points of the gums around each tooth) are checked for proper placement.
Interdental Contacts: The contacts between teeth are evaluated.
Tooth Size and Proportions: The visible lengths and width-to-height ratios of teeth are assessed.
Tooth Shapes and Surface Texture: The shapes, character, and surface texture of the teeth are examined.
Incisal Edge Relationship: The relationship between the edges of the front teeth is evaluated, including how they interact with the lips when smiling.
Lower Lip and Smile Dynamics: The position of the lower lip relative to the teeth during a smile is analyzed.
Overall Facial Assessment: The patient’s face shape, characteristic features, and age are considered both overall and in relation to the teeth.
